CeBIT 2010, Europe's largest ICT trade fair in Hannover, expects about 360,000 visitors this year. That is the same as in 2009. The fair opened its doors Monday March 1. There are nearly 4300 suppliers, including some from the Netherlands. They are not dissatisfied.

German Chancellor Angela opened the exhibition Monday March 1, 2010. This she did with the Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero as Spain this year the Cebit partner country. The theme of the exhibition is 'Connected Worlds'.

There are a total of 4292 companies from 69 countries. The organization expects about 360,000 visitors in the coming days. That is the same as in 2009. Visitors can visit almost 4300 stands in different halls scattered across 450,000 square meters. There is even a special 'Run' route CeBIT visitors can follow. It is 3.5 km long and goes through several stands. The number of stands is now stable but considerably less than the peak in 2001. Then there were 8100 companies with a booth.

The organization, Deutsche Messe, said the fair attracts new participants. This year, three hundred new companies participated. These include Google and Amazon Web Services. According to the Deutsche Messe, the fair is a boost for the ICT industry, as companies after a half year invest in new information technology.

There are also Dutch suppliers and service providers at the Cebit 2010. Zarafa from Delft, which provides an open source mail server, in Hall 2. There is also from Terneuzen Force Fusion, a provider of virtualization and desktop solutions.
